Betty Duong

Overview
Prior to rejoining the office, Betty served the County’s residents in a number of roles. Most recently, Betty served as Program Manager for the County of Santa Clara Vietnamese American Service Center (VASC), overseeing service coordination, program design, facility management, and operations.
Betty spent some time as the Interim Division Supervisor for the Division of Equity & Social Justice and previously led the County’s Office of Labor Standards Enforcement (OLSE). During the COVID-19 pandemic, Betty was a Lead Public Information Officer managing all communications on behalf of the County’s Emergency Operations Center. In 2016, Betty took a personal leave of absence from the County to manage the successful Measure A $950 million housing bond campaign. Betty served as Budget and Policy Director to Supervisor Chavez from 2013 – 2018.
Born and raised in San Jose. Betty is the daughter of Ngoc Tu and Thong Duong, who emigrated to the United States as refugees of the Viet Nam War. She is married to Khai Nguyen and has two kids.

Education
Betty received a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Davis King Hall School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts Degree (in Asian American Studies) from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a proud graduate of De Anza College. Betty is licensed to practice law in the State of California.
